Cosmos Mariner Productions founder and President Michael Jordan has made numerous trips into war zones with US troops since 9/11, including three visits to Afghanistan and two to Iraq. Below are clips from the programs he produced from these trips.

Iraq 2005

In late 2005, military reporter Michael Jordan traveled from Savannah, GA to Iraq to embed with 3rd Infantry Division soldiers deployed in Baghdad. In addition to accompanying the local troops on missions throughout the war torn city, Michael was also with the response team sent to the scene of a suicide bombing in one of Baghdad's central squares. The stories Michael produced were broadcast on WSAV-TV 3/NBC, Savannah.

Iraq 2010

In 2010, thousands of 3rd Infantry Division soldiers (whose slogan "Rock of the Marne," commemorates a WWI battle) from Fort Stewart, GA were deployed to Iraq. Military reporter Michael Jordan embedded with the troops and created a multiple-episode television series that aired in Savannah. In this highlight clip, viewers join the troops as they go on patrols in the deserts straddling the Syrian-Iraqi border, destroying hidden weapons caches and working to bring together Iraq's Kurds, Shi'ites, and Sunnis.

Afghanistan 2002

In spring 2002, military reporter Michael Jordan and videographer Mehmet Caglayan of WSAV-TV News in Savannah traveled to Kandahar, Afghanistan, where they covered local soldiers deployed just after the American-led invasion. The special report the team produced, titled "Your Freedom Fighters," won a Georgia Associated Press Best Documentary award.

Afghanistan 2009

In 2009, thousands of members of the Georgia Army and Air National Guard deployed for one year throughout Afghanistan. Military reporter Michael Jordan embedded with the troops and filed a series of programs on FOX-28 in Savannah, as well as reports on CBS Atlanta.

Afghanistan 2010

In 2010, the US Army's 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade, based at Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah, GA, began a year-long deployment to the mountains of eastern Afghanistan. Military Reporter Michael Jordan joined the Army aviators in the dangerous skies of this war-torn land, and included the soldiers' stories in his TV series, "Rock of the Marne."

US and French Troops in Afghanistan

In 2009, military reporter Michael Jordan traveled into the war zone in Afghanistan and found little-known, surprising examples of cooperation between French and US troops. Michael went on patrol with members of the Georgia Army National Guard and the French Foreign Legion as they worked together to complete a dangerous mission.

Kuwait, Fall 2002

In November 2002, military reporter Michael Jordan traveled to the sprawling complex of US military bases near the Iraqi border in Kuwait, to chronicle the lives of Savannah-area soldiers preparing for the imminent invasion of Iraq. The series of reports filed for WSAV-TV 3/NBC Savannah included stories on the live-fire training carried out by the troops, as well as features on how the soldiers relaxed and celebrated Thanksgiving.

Apache Attack Helicopters in Kuwait 2002

En route to an assignment in Afghanistan in spring 2002, military reporter Michael Jordan got the opportunity to spend two days with a squadron of Savannah-based Apache attack helicopter crews deployed to Kuwait, near the Iraqi border. The story Michael filed for WSAV-TV 3/NBC Savannah included an up close look at these lethal flying machines as well as a ride-along beside them in a UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter as the Apaches flew over the Kuwaiti desert.

Guantanamo, Cuba 2004

In 2004, military reporter Michael Jordan traveled to the US Navy base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to file a series of reports for WSAV-TV 3/NBC Savannah. The stories included a look inside the detention facilities where the US government houses suspected Al Qaeda detainees swept up in Afghanistan and elsewhere around the world, as well as the Cold War-era defenses placed around the perimeter of the only US military base inside a communist country.
